Earls visit 4 e1634810452947HIS Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex & Forfar recently joined the Perth & Kinross Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Association to celebrate its 30th Anniversary at a special event at Megginch Castle. The Earl met a group of young people participating in the Award together with parents, volunteers, sponsors and Trustees.

During the visit, His Royal Highness tried his hand at archery and generously planted two trees. The first as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy to celebrate Her Majesty’s Jubilee in 2022. The second tree celebrated the life of The Duke of Edinburgh and marked the Association’s 30th Anniversary.

Robin Illsley, Chairman of Perth & Kinross Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Association, was delighted to welcome The Earl. He said:

“It was an absolute honour for us to welcome His Royal Highness to Meggich Castle on the occasion of our 30th Anniversary. It was also a perfect time for us to acknowledge the vision of The Duke of Edinburgh in creating what has become the most celebrated Youth Award programme in the World.

“Through our work with thousands of young people over the last 30 years, we have witnessed them grow with confidence, smile, and experience a real sense of achievement through their involvement in the Award. It was a privilege to be able to share our success stories with The Earl. He spent time meeting and chatting with everyone and helped to create new memories as we look ahead to the next decade.”
